Growing up singing at Main Street Church of God, J-Will learned to sing with confidence and was not afraid to show out for a crowd. The son of Pastor J- Will Shorter Jr. and Jan Lee Shorter, J-Will came from a long line of singers. At the age of 13 J-Will began writing and producing his own music, studying the likes of R. Kelly, Bobby Brown, and Brian McKnight he developed different styles including his own and came up with a craft that was distinct. 

Over the last 10 years J-Will has grown and performed with the likes of TRICK DADDY, MIKE JONES, MYSTICAL, MR. CHEEKS, BETTY WRIGHT, SILK, POISON CLAN, J.T MONEY, 112, 8 BALL & MJG, T-PAIN, NAPPY HEADZ, 69 BOYZ,LIL WAYNE, CASH MONEY, MASTER P, NO LIMIT SOLDIERS, KHIA, BLOOD RAW, YING YANG TWINS, PRETTY RICKY, URBAN MYSTIC, BODY HEAD BANGERS, ECT. 

J-Will has paid his dues and is humble. J-Will's father pasted away when he was 17 and he took a wrong turn when he tried out the streetlife. After being in and out of trouble J-Will decided that his father's death would not be in vain, so he dedicates his career 2 his father and will not stop untill his work is done.
